To ask God for help — for yourself
"Please give me peace through this storm"

Intercession
To pray on behalf of others — for healing, protection, faith, or peace
"Please help my friend who is struggling"

Surrender / Dedication
To yield your plans, life, or desires to God's will
"Your will be done, not mine"

Guidance / Discernment
To seek clarity or direction in decisions or spiritual matters
"Show me the path You want me to take"

Lament
To pour out grief, sadness, or confusion to God honestly
"Where are You, God? I don’t understand"

Christian teaching holds that humanity, because of sin (selfishness, pride, brokenness, etc.), is separated from God — not because God doesn’t want us, but because we’ve lost the ability to truly know or be with Him on our own.

So when people say "I get to my God through Christ", they’re acknowledging:

That they couldn’t bridge the gap to God by their own effort, and
That Jesus is the one who makes that reconnection possible.
